I often think back to Japan's Warring States period. Life expectancy then is said to have been around thirty years, and it was young heroes in their teens and twenties who built nations with their own hands. I never met any of them. And yet it isn't hard to imagine that the fire they carried in their chests stirred people and energized society as a whole.

But medicine has advanced, and our lifespans have grown dramatically longer. As people live longer, they accumulate wisdom and experience, build up power and assets, and remain far longer in the rooms where decisions are made. Important international bodies like the United Nations, and Japan's own seniority-based employment system, have both come to place "length of experience" at the center of how judgment is made. This has always sat uneasily with me.

The people who will live the era ahead are the generation yet to come. And that generation is absent from the rooms where the most important decisions are made. Isn't this a tremendous loss for society? People in their twenties are at their physical and intellectual peak, hold the greatest concentration of talent, and carry more of society's not-yet-implemented insight than any other generation. I want to see the world they would design — a world no one has seen before.

Nothing changes if we simply let nature take its course. That is precisely why we want to carefully nurture the strength of people in their twenties, and send them into society as people who bring others along and push forward. Bringing this generation back to the center of the future — that is the mission this company stands for.
